Online Band Marketing Overview
What’s good on the net, as far as breaking a band is concerned?
More sites are becoming automated, from a programming language point of view. They seem to all link up via RSS feeds and other programming languages.
Major contributors include Facebook / MySpace (dead but still has lots of useful data) / Twitter / P2P Networks / Music Blogs / Message Boards and Forums.
If your band is getting written about on any of these networks, things might snowball, if the music is good. This seems healthy, and what ever.
Some links of note so far: Currently don’t actually know what I’m researching. Will figure that out as i gather more info……. .

To SUM UP
A simple site for the band’s own .com is all about personal touch but might not attract many hits unless the band gets popular
So to populate the web but not over populate and seem desperate for attention, when trying to break a band, an updated page on one of the main blogging sites is great, also a face book band profile is a must.
For selling, BandCamp and I-tunes (or a site that is promoting your genre)
For tweeting, Twitter
Other sites to keep up to date with your Discography is Last FM
Hook them all up via RSS and only update all sites once every 2 weeks, otherwise fans will get annoyed.
Expect users to notice your updates on what ever platform they are on, when online during your posting. Update your sites at relevant times, so perhaps a thursday night around 8pm is good to attract those onlookers seeking creative thoughts and participation before their last day at work, and just after a yummy dinner.
What should I crap on about next? any ideas? I don’t really know what i’m researching yet, but it does seem like solid research into sorting out what is worthwhile on the net these days for a band trying to say HELLO
(FOR QUALITY RECORDINGS / MIXING / MASTERING - USE ALCHEMIX - WWW.ALCHEMIX.COM.AU)
